Service Learning Friday!

A need in our neighboring district was brought to the attention of the Service Leadership Committee,
and we would like to help! Northwest R-1 is trying to ensure that every student has food by opening
a food bank and by sending home backpacks full of food with their students. They are accepting
donations of non-perishable items.
The Service-Learning committee would like to have a food drive this Friday, October 2, in
conjunction with a Spirit Day. We are encouraging our students and staff to wear their Concord Spirit
Wear this Friday and bring a canned good or other non-perishable item. We want our students to be
aware of the needs of their neighbors and help however they can. Our retired friend, Carol Stulce,
will pick up and deliver our food donations to the schools Friday afternoon.

If you are able, please send in a donation of non-perishable food items on Friday!
Also wear your Concord gear!

Picture Day

Please don't forget that TOMORROW is picture day.

We want as many students as possible to take advantage of these materials.  I have the password and username.  Here is short video explaining how to log in to the website.

Peek at the Week!

This week during writer's workshop we will work on stretching our words to spell them, writing with focus, talking to other writers, and re-reading our writing just like we read books.

In readers' workshop and daily 5 we are working on building good reading habits.

Please check out the scholastic book orders that will be coming home on Tuesday. You can order online using the class activation code H6VWX or you can send in your order and I will mail them off to Scholastic.

I want to remind you that your child is more than welcome to bring a water bottle to school. We do not have a water fountain in our classroom, so it's nice to have a water bottle available to them to stay hydrated without having to leave the classroom.

Also, thank you for sending in notes & emails for dismissal changes - it helps me tremendously!

Communication Log

Here is a copy of the communication log. It's currently being copied. As soon as I get them back we will put them in the Leadership Notebook. We will fill this out daily. I have already written the date on the form to help get them started. Please initial the box every night showing you have seen the log.
Make sure to check your child's Leadership Notebook tonight for the reading minutes log.

1 MILLION reading minutes

The school has set a goal to read 1 million minutes by the end of the school year. We will track our minutes by using the following lightbulb page. For every ten minutes your child reads they can color in a lightbulb.
